Getting to Ao Nang

Ao Nang is located around 20km from Krabi Town and 25km from the nearest airport, Krabi International (KBV). A taxi to / from Krabi airport will take approximately 30 minutes and cost 600 baht for a car (max 4 persons) or 1000 baht for a private minibus. There is also a (slower) airport bus service, which is charged at 150 baht per person one way.

From Krabi Town (where most bus services from other places in Thailand will terminate), there is a local bus service, or taxi service to Ao Nang. Count 15 – 20 minutes by car, or twice as long for the bus.

If you are coming into Ao Nang for the evening from Klong Muang or Tubkaek, check with your hotel first: many offer a free or paid shuttle service for guests to dine or shop at the beachfront. Otherwise a taxi to Ao Nang from Klong Muang will cost 400 baht one way, or 500 baht from Tubkaek. It’s a 20 – 30 minute drive.

There are direct passenger ferry connections to Ao Nang (Nopparat Thara Pier) from the islands of Phi Phi, Lanta, Phuket and Koh Yao Noi / Yai (Lanta during November to April only). Longtail taxi boats run from here to Railay and Ton Sai, up to around 11pm. Longtail boats can also be chartered year round from the beach for island-hopping excursions.
