Ao Nang Goodwill: Pictures, Reviews and Rates

Ao Nang Goodwill is one of the new guesthouses (2008) on the main road out of town, approximately 10 minutes walk to the beach itself, though only a couple of hundred yards to where the main commercial area begins. Its location, midway between the beach and the village area of Ao Nang, is also quite convenient for those who like Thai food. In the evening, the many authentic street food stalls in the village are within easy access (walk in the opposite direction to the beach).

Of the half dozen similar hotels along this strip, Ao Nang Goodwill offers probably the best value for money in terms of rooms, facilities and service. The owners are friendly and they seemed to be around most of the time in the lobby / restaurant / internet area to provide help arranging transport etc.

The rooms themselves, of which there are 23, are located on the three upper floors. They are sold as a single category, though they are not all equal. Rooms to the front of the building benefit from more light, though they are road-facing so you do get some street noise (dulled considerably by the double glazed french windows to the balcony). Rooms at the back are quieter but darker and ones on the lower floors have no view at all - the balcony opens directly onto a wall. Upper floors on both sides have nice cliff views, though there is a climb involved (no lift / elevator). It is possible to request in which area of the guesthouse you would like your room to be - this will be granted if available, but cannot be guaranteed, especially during peak season in December and January.

Room size at Ao Nang Goodwill varies from spacious to vast, making them easily able to accommodate an extra bed to make a triple room. All are spotlessly clean and they feel cool and calm with white marble tiles and muted splashes of colour. Though the decor is quite plain, there is high quality bed linen and nice traditional Thai wooden furniture. All the bathrooms are ensuite and have a bathtub, with shower overhead. Communal areas are also kept very clean and overall the place feels comfortable and well-maintained.
